Press Secretary for Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities named
ATLANTA – Thomas C. Wilson has been named Communications Director and Press Secretary for Georgia’s new Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The new department, which begins operations July 1, 2009, is the state’s lead agency on policy and programs for mental health, addictive diseases, and developmental disabilities.
Wilson, who rejoins the State after serving in the Office of Public Affairs at the University of Georgia, was previously Deputy Communications Director for the Georgia Department of Human Resources. His eleven years experience in communications includes serving as a gubernatorial speechwriter and a grassroots media strategist. He earned a M.A. in political management from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Alabama. He and his wife live in Hall County, Georgia.
