Savannah hospital fully evacuated, individuals relocated to Augusta ahead of Hurricane Matthew
Savannah, Ga.--Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities officials announced that Georgia Regional Hospital – Savannah (GRHS) has been fully evacuated following a directive from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. All individuals currently being served by GRHS have been relocated to East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta.
Management and staff securely and completely evacuated 179 inpatients due to the likelihood of power loss and possible flooding in the Savannah area. Family members and designated contacts for GRHS patients should rest assured that all individuals are safe, but patient communications are limited at this time. All patient privacy and confidentiality laws remain in effect.
GRHS will remain closed until further advisement.
Anyone experiencing a behavioral health crisis should call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL) at 800.715.4225.
