ATLANTA—The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan G. Trueblood to the position of hospital administrator at the Payton B. Cook Building on the campus of Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.

Trueblood has a long history of working with people who have disabilities. She returns to DBHDD after serving as executive director of the Albany Advocacy Resource Center. She joined the state of Georgia in 1990 and worked in legal services at hospitals and at the state offices. She also served as director of hospital operations, director of regional operations and hospital administrator at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta. In 2011, Trueblood left Georgia to work for the Florida Department of Children and Families both in its legal department and as the coordinator of quality improvement in Florida’s mental health hospital system.

“Trueblood is very knowledgeable in all aspects of operating a behavioral health facility,” said DBHDD’s Chief Medical Officer Emile Risby. “We are excited to have her back at DBHDD.”

Trueblood begins her new duties at the Cook Building immediately. “I really enjoy forensic work and my background and experience are a great fit for this job,” said Trueblood. “I jumped at the chance to come to work in the Cook Building. I look forward to working with the team to make this facility a center of excellence for forensic operations.”

Trueblood was born in Savannah and Graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1982.
