ATLANTA – August 16, 2023  - The Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia Bus Tour will visit 48 communities across Georgia during National Recovery Month. More than 800,000 Georgians are living in long-term recovery from substance use disorder. Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia will bring Georgians together to celebrate recovery, educate individuals on harm reduction and recovery resources, and show Georgia that “Recovery is Real.” This engaging and uplifting bus tour will bring together Georgia’s policymakers, local community leaders, and the 800,000-strong Georgia Recovery Community.

“Recovery is real for more than 800,000 people in communities across Georgia. The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is funding the Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia Bus Tour throughout September as Georgia celebrates National Recovery Month. By supporting peer-positive recovery programs, we support peers and their families, enhance law enforcement and first responders, build a stronger workforce, provide our health care professionals with vital resources, and build stronger communities,” said Kevin Tanner, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. “I appreciate the leadership of Governor Brian Kemp and everyone on Team DBHDD involved in this historic effort, especially the DBHDD Office of Addictive Diseases, and congratulate our partners at the Georgia Council for Recovery and the Clinton Foundation for their vision in bringing the positive message that recovery is real in Georgia.”

"The Clinton Foundation is honored to partner with the Office of Addictive Diseases at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities to bring the Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia bus tour to 48 communities across the state of Georgia in celebration and recognition of National Recovery Month this September! We thank the Reverend Dr. Vonshurii Wrighten and his office of addictive diseases for funding this historic tour and Commissioner Kevin Tanner and Cassandra Price for their ongoing leadership and tireless support of the recovery movement across the state of Georgia. We are committed to bringing the message that 'Recovery is Real' to communities across Georgia during National Recovery Month,” said Chris Thrasher, CEO of Substance Use Disorders and Recovery at the Clinton Foundation.

“The Georgia Council for Recovery is honored to be a part of the Mobilize Recovery Across Georgia bus tour. As Georgia’s exclusive statewide Recovery Community Organization, GC4R looks forward to working with dozens of local peer-led organizations to show Georgia that ‘Recovery is Real,’” said Laurisa Guerrero, Executive Director of Georgia Council for Recovery.
