He previously served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications in the Office of the Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives. In that role, Mr. McMichen served as the principal media spokesperson for the Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2014 through 2023.

While in the Speaker’s Office, Mr. McMichen worked in support of legislation that helped make Georgia the best state in the nation for business for ten consecutive years – helping to create jobs and expand economic opportunity across the state. He also worked on major bipartisan initiatives including prosecuting sexual assault crimes, modernizing Georgia’s adoption laws, implementing Georgia's first paid parental leave policy for state employees, and reforming mental health services.

Mr. McMichen earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
