ATLANTA - The Department of Juvenile Justice will host the Behavioral Health Coordinating Council Meeting on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at 2 Peachtree Street, Suite 24-260.

The Behavioral Health Coordinating Council is comprised of the commissioners from Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities; Community Health; Human Services; Juvenile Justice; Corrections; an adult consumer of public behavioral health services, appointed by the Governor; a family member of a consumer of public behavioral health services, appointed by the Governor; a parent of a child receiving public behavioral health services, appointed by the Governor; a member of the House of Representatives, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives; and a member of the Senate, appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. DBHDD Commissioner Frank Shelp will serve as the chairperson of the council.

The council is charged with developing solutions that will offer more efficient and effective delivery of behavioral health services. Council members will make recommendations that implement funding, policy, practice and evaluation changes specifically designed to improve services delivery and individuals served by the various departments.
