Welcome to Georgia Regional Hospital at Atlanta (GRHA). GRHA is a publicly owned facility of the State of Georgia and operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).

GRH-A Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology
The aim of the GRH-A Psychology Internship Program is to deliver supervised clinical training to doctoral-level interns in the person-centered, evidence-based treatment of adults who often present with severe mental illness and severe emotional disorders. We train interns in established profession-wide competencies through the supervised provision of clinical, forensic, and behavioral psychological services within a state inpatient hospital setting.

GRHA is located on 174 acres in DeKalb County. GRHA operates 306 licensed, accredited inpatient beds for three major program areas: 1) Adult Mental Health, 2) Adult Forensic Services, and 3) Developmental Disabilities/Skilled Nursing. GRHA offers inpatient adult mental health services, inpatient habilitation services and forensic program services to residents of the following counties:

Adult Mental Health Services:
DeKalb, Fulton, Clayton, Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale Counties.

*Developmental Disabilities and Skilled Nursing Services:
DeKalb, Fulton, Clayton, Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale, Cobb, Douglas, Fayette, Cherokee, and Henry Counties.

Forensic Services:
Clayton, Cobb, Dawson. DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Newton and Rockdale counties.

GRHA collaborates with the Regional Office for Region Three and community mental health centers in providing a unified system of treatment services for persons living in the service areas. Together, GRHA and the community mental health centers seek to maximize the continuity of service, thereby helping those hospitalized to retain the gains they make while at GRHA. GRHA serves a large number of indigent and homeless consumers. No one is refused admission to the hospital because of inability to pay for services. After consumers are discharged, the hospital bills them according to their ability to pay for services received.

*No longer admitting patients
