Behavioral Health Provider Certification Unit

Five Hands

DBHDD’s Behavioral Health Provider Certification Unit (BHPCU) provides behavioral health certification oversight to CSUs that offer short term, medically monitored residential services to children, adolescents and adults for psychiatric stabilization and alcohol/drug detoxification. In addition to applicable state laws, the BHPCU has standards and requirements described in policy, against which CSUs are reviewed for compliance, in order to obtain and maintain certification.

BHPCU also designates hospitals as Emergency Receiving, Evaluation, and Treatment Facilities (Authority O.C.G.A. Sec. 37-3-40, 37-3-60, 37-3-80).

This website is designed to guide and assist you through the application and certification process.

NOTE: DBHDD Behavioral Health Provider Certification Unit is only responsible for the certification of Crisis Stabilization Units and the designation of Emergency Receiving, Evaluation, Treatment Facilities and as such, is not responsible for the licensing of other facilities and/or provider enrollment. Please see the FAQs section for further licensing/provider resources.
